Regatta Results: Fine Strokes Plaster and Painting Takes Men’s Title, Hyflodraulic Wins Women’s Championship

Oct 07, 2023

The Fine Strokes Plaster and Painting Crew take to the winner's circle.

Fine Strokes Plaster and Painting has won the 2023 Royal St. John’s Regatta Men’s Championship while Hylfodraulic has taken the women’s.

The men’s crew crossed the finish line with a time of 9:15.71.

Capital Home Hardware came in second, defending champions NTV came in third, and East Coast Kia and Andrew McDonald General Contractor took the fourth and fifth place positions.

Fine Strokes Plaster and Painting Team member Eric King says they put a lot of work in this year. He says they “put it all out there.”

As for the women, Hyflodraulic won in 5:10.99, the fourth year in a row they have taken the victory lap.

Second place went to Dawe and Burke with Smith Stockley in third. Noonan Piercey was fourth and Cahill Group fifth.

Nicolle Hamlyn of Hyflodraulic says it has been a challenging year for her team. They had some setbacks in time trials and were disqualified in the Placentia race, so getting the win makes it that much more emotional.

She says they needed to prove to themselves that their training program worked.

This is a close one. Hyflo had a crew change because of injury. Winning 4th consecutive championship at Regatta. Dawe & Burke 2nd. pic.twitter.com/jSiggXXaSG
